Ageing with your skin: setting realistic goals

Talk about comfort, protection and expression rather than promise to make the years go away.

Change the vocabulary of the mirror

A routine can aim for a more comfortable skin or make-up that fits better. It must not be presented as a cancellation of aging. Distinguish what you feel from what you see: dryness, relief, tint, wrinkles of expression or discomfort to the touch. These concerns do not all call the same answer.

A goal that can be described

Write a concrete sentence: "I wish less tiring after my shower" or "I would like a quick morning routine". This precision avoids buying several treatments for a vague promise. Aging can make the skin drier; your routine must follow its comfort rather than an age printed on a pot.

  • Choose a priority goal before a new purchase.
  • Photograph in the same light if you follow the appearance of the skin.
  • Keep the gestures pleasant and abandon those who irritate.

An example to adapt to your daily life

You want to be more comfortable on the photos, but your first discomfort is a skin that pulls. Distinguish these two expectations during the review. Comfort can become the priority of routine, while the aspect is discussed with realistic expectations. Choose the words you want to use about your age; you do not have to adopt a permanent correction speech. A useful accompaniment must also respect what you do not want to change.

An accompanying approach

The aesthetic expectations are personal. You can talk about them without the obligation of intervention or transformation. If a stain, wound or painful area appears, do not automatically attribute it to age: a professional examination makes it possible to distinguish a cosmetic concern from a health problem.

Useful questions for your next exchange

  • What cosmetic result is reasonable for my goal?
  • What can I follow without ever looking at me?
  • Which step actually improves my comfort?
